Open File With

If you open a file and it looks garbled, you may have changed the program Windows uses to open it.

  1. Find the file name on your hard disk using either My Computer

or Windows Explorer (NOT Internet Explorer).

  1. Right click the file name.

  1. Click (left mouse button) Open with.

  1. The Open With dialog box is displayed.

  1. If the file was created with Microsoft Works, find Microsoft Works and click on it. If you are not sure what program was used to create the file, make sure that the box in front of “Always use this program to open these files” is NOT checked. If the file still doesn’t open so that it’s usable, repeat the procedure and try another program in the list.
