2. Open the Testbank that goes with your textbook. If it isn’t visible in the Testbank Library, click File, Add Testbank to Library.
3. Locate the folder where you downloaded the testbank file, click the file name, and then click Open.
4. Click the + icon to expand the chapter from which you want to select quiz questions.
5. Click Web Test in the right pane of the TestGen screen.
6. Click the checkbox in front of WebCT 3.x and 4.x (WCT).
7. Click OK.
1.
Click each question you want to use and
then drag and drop it to the right pane. You can also select several questions
and then click the Add Selected Item(s) button under the Testbank
Library pane.
To select all questions in a section, click the first question, press and
hold the Shift key, and click the last question in the series. To select some
questions including nonadjacent items, click the first question, press and
hold the Ctrl key while clicking the questions you want to use.
2. When you’ve selected all questions you want to use in a test (or category), click File, Export to save the quiz in WebCT format. If Export is grayed out, click in the right pane where the questions are displayed, and then click Export.
3. In the Export Test dialog box, select WebCT 4.x and click OK.
4.
In the Export to WebCT dialog
box, choose a WebCT folder name where you want to store your quiz questions in
My-Files on WebCT.
Example: Quiz_Questions.
Remember, WebCT does not always play nice with file names that have
spaces or special characters in them. You can use the underscore character to
separate words, but short file names and folder names work best.
In the Enter a category Name blank, enter a descriptive name for the
category. Example: chap5. Click OK.
NOTE:
· When you upload the resulting .zip file to My-Files and unzip it, WebCT will create the folder you specified in this step and the questions will be unzipped in .txt format for importing into the Question Database. If there are images in this category, a folder with images will be included in the .zip file. For this example, the file you will use to Import questions from file is named chap5.txt.
· If you get a message that there are issues with some of the questions, you may want to export those questions anyway. A few of the images are distorted using only TestGen, but if you want to use those images, import the TestGen .txt file into Respondus. Respondus manages images much more consistently.
5. In the Create a file for export dialog box, give the category a file name. For consistency, use the category name you selected in step 4. Example: chap5.ZIP. You do not need to type the .ZIP file extension. TestGen supplies that for you.
6. Click the Save button. The test is saved in the Tests folder located by default in: C:\Program Files\TestGen\Tests.
1. Login to your course.
2. Click the Control Panel button.
3. Click the Manage Files button.
4. In the Actions panel on the right, click Upload.
5. In the Upload File window, click the Browse button.
6. Go the C:\Program Files\TestGen\Tests folder and locate the zipped quiz file. In the example, it would be chap5.ZIP. Select the file and click the Open button.
7. In the Upload Files window, click the Upload button.
1. Click in the checkbox in front of the file you just uploaded.
2. In the Actions panel on the right, click Unzip.
3. On the Unzip File screen check to ensure that My-Files shows in the Unzip chap5.ZIP to: blank.
4. Click the Unzip button.
5. You can delete the .ZIP file in My-Files if you wish. The questions have been unzipped to a folder you specified when you exported the questions. In our example, the folder is Quiz_Questions.
1. Open the Quiz Tool and click the Question Database link.
2. In the Actions panel, click Import questions from file.
3. In the Import From File screen, click the Browse button.
4. Find the folder in My-Files where you stored the questions file. Select the questions text file by clicking the circle in front of it. In our example, find the Quiz_Questions folder and click the radio button (circle) in front of chap5.txt.
5. Click the Add selected button at the bottom of the My-Files screen.
6. In the Import From File screen, click the Import button.
